Ondo school of Nursing midwifery upgraded, Now Award Degree


​The Ondo State Government has said that it has started the process of upgrading the Ondo State School of Nursing and Midwifery to a degree -awarding institution .

The government also said it was committed to ensuring that quality nursing education was provided in the state – owned nursing institution .


The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Health , Dr . Taye Oni , stated this while speaking during the matriculation ceremony of 50 student midwives in the Ondo State School of Midwifery, Akure , the state capital .

He noted that there had been a paradigm shift in nursing education in Nigeria .

He said , “ Schools of nursing and midwifery are fast becoming degree -awarding institutions or monotechnics.

“ To this end, the Ondo State Government is doing a lot to transform the school and the rate of transformation would be more rapid . ”

He urged the matriculating students to work hard in order to achieve excellent performance , urging them not to allow distractions in the course of their study in the institution .

In her remarks , the Principal of the school , Mrs. Bridget Oladele , advised the new students to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the institution .

She noted that diligence and hard work were the only means to guarantee a successful stay for the students of the institution . She also urged the government to give more support to the school .
